Special Parish Council Minutes

February 6, 2005

Parish Council convened in a special session on Sunday, February 6th after church. The purpose of this meeting was to organize and outline our strategy for achieving the goals that were presented at Annual Meeting the week before. The topics discussed included Bylaws, Membership, Missions and Stewardship. The formation of a search committee later this year to find a settled pastor was also discussed.

Bylaws- In order to bring our bylaws up to date they will be reviewed and revised with the goal of streamlining committee structure and updating the search process. This is to be completed by September or October before the Nominating committee begins their work. The group in charge of this will also look at perhaps changing our yearly calendar.

Membership- In order to grow our church, this group will focus outward to increase membership and to reach out to inactive members. Currently, our average Sunday attendance is 175. The goal will be to increase this to 250 by September of 2006.

Missions- The Missions group will have 3 goals: establishing a focus and specific point of view to their strategy, setting up fundraising efforts and deciding how to fund OCWM (Our Churches Wider Mission).

Stewardship- This group will develop a 5 year plan to make our church financially solvent. All phases of our finances will be examined, including establishing a planned giving program.

Council spent the remainder of the meeting reviewing potential members for each of the above mentioned groups.

Respectfully submitted,
Susan Lambe, Recording Clerk
