Parish Life: Hosting some type of an ecumenical activity for Youth was discussed, possibly in the Fall. The ads that were placed in the local newspapers for Easter were well received, it was thought we should continue with some type of ad program.
Properties: Bill reported that the new cabinets for the restrooms didnt fit properly and that we need to find someone with carpentry skills. One large window shutter still needs to be installed outside. The landscaping group will be meeting to discuss all church landscaping needs, including planning the Memorial Garden. All church signing will also be addressed by this group. We have been having a problem with skateboarders using the parking lot. There are liability issues as well as problems with glass and trash. We will contact Bob MacKendrick to see if the town is looking at the issue of a safe place to skateboard.
Investments: This commission has not met recently and needs to meet to update.
Faith Development: The lighting in the old Kindergarten room needs to be updated. We need to find a way to keep Tower Day School space safe and private during school hours. People walking through the playground to get to the library and the Wiggles and Giggles group using the wrong doors have been a problem. Tower Notes has been going home in students backpacks for one month.
Christian Ed. And Youth Ministry: Our last Rotation for this year has begun. It is titled "Worship" and will end on June 6th with our Youth leading Worship that day. A social will follow. Vacation Bible School will be held from July 6th - 9th, this years theme is "Davey and Goliath." The Easter Egg hunt this year was very well attended. Youth Group whitewater rafting retreats will be held the weekend of May 21st. The "Teens to Tennessee" group
has raised over $1000 towards their goal of $4950 so that 7
students can attend the national UCC youth conference this summer.
Additional planned fundraisers include a Mothers Day Plant
sale, a car wash and Krispy Kreme donut sale, and selling "shares"
of stock in the trip. All shareholders will be invited to a
dinner meeting in the Fall to review the trip.
Next years Youth Groups are still being finalized, there is the potential for 3 groups. We will try the Parents of Young Children Group again in the Fall.
