Special Congregational Meeting
July 23, 2006
Church Moderator, Phil Johnson, called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. 119 church members were in attendance; thereby easily establishing a quorum.
Phil announced that the purpose of the meeting was to receive a nomination from the Search Committee for a settled pastor candidate. He outlined the agenda and explained the voting procedure. Auditors were selected to collect and count the ballots; they were Chuck Cotting, Al Johnson and Carol MacKendrick. Phil thanked the Search Committee for their hard work and they were recognized by the congregation.
Debbie Cotting, chair of the Search Committee, explained the committees criteria for a candidate and reviewed the search process. She then presented an overview of the candidate, Dennis Bailey. She detailed his experience, education and credentials and requested confidentiality. Jeff Langill and Betty Hayter of the Search Committee both offered their comments and observations of the candidate. Dwight Decker, church treasurer, detailed the financial terms of the call.
Debbie then made the motion that "the congregation call Rev. Dr. Dennis Bailey to be the settled pastor of Centre Congregational Church according to the terms of the call as stated." Questions and comments from the congregation were heard. The auditors then collected the ballots and recessed to count the votes. The ballots were returned and the moderator announced that of 119 ballots cast ; 114 voted yes, 2 voted no and 3 abstained.
Rev. Dr. Bailey then returned to meeting and offered his thanks. The meeting ended at 10:40 A.M.
